Despite the menacing appearance of this shady group of uninvited visitors, they are actually pretty harmless. If anything, they were more comical than anything else.
Shudder!
I have been terrified of spiders since childhood. But they are still kind of neat to watch. From a distance. Great distance. Really great distance.
They Grow So Fast!
The little babies I posted about earlier aren’t really babies anymore! Birds grow so quickly, and I don’t think it will be very long before these “teenagers” will be booted out to make way for a fresh batch of new ones.
Visitors!
This is not the first time we have had visitors to the bodies of water in our yard. I have mixed feelings about some of them. Trust me, you would, too.
Babies!
They. Are. So. FLUFFY!!!! And so stinking CUTE!
The First Shot
We were back at the cabin last weekend, this time we were joined by all the Old Man’s siblings and his dad (affectionately called El Viejo, which means “old man” in Spanish). It’s probably been almost three decades since they were all together at the cabin.
The Paved Path
I wasn’t entirely sure I wanted to go. In fact, I didn’t even make up my mind until that morning and I was still convincing myself as I was telling the Old Man we needed to get ready.
Friend or Foe? Ladybug (Coccinellidae)
Most definitely friend!! Though this bizarre looking creature may give you the heebie-jeebies just looking at it, you will want to welcome them with open arms. You are looking at the juvenile stage of everyone’s favorite aphid-eater: the ladybug!
Just Passing Through
We live not too far away from a stretch of river. As a result, we tend to get a variety of visitors to our neighborhood that make the trek from the river bottom, and on up into the suburbs. Some even decide they like it well enough and make our yards their homes. Some are welcome, some not so much.
